Why Is the US Dollar Dying?
January 2, 2011 | In: News And Society
As a global currency wars come to head, and many speculators saying the economy is fine, is the US at major risk of devaluing? We have already seen a 4% drop in the US currency over the last several weeks.
The recent sinking in US dollar, falling in value since late spring is startling a lot of the financial analysts. And is also scaring a lot of investors. It seems like Treasury Timothy Geitner is persuading fed head, Ben Bernanke to go minimal on any QE2 money pumping but these plans have already gone ahead, only further adding pressure to the US dollar.
Is the US greenback low enough now and set to rally, or is the more catastrophic selling coming our way? That is a good question.
The first thing about the head honchos in Washington is that they never get it right. Geithner has been wrong for 15 years. First they say they want a strong dollar, then the actions they take seem to totally do a back flip on their wishes as they devalue it and drive it down.
Having said all that. The most popular view of the world is that if the world economy gets better you will want to own commodities. That is because there is a shortage developing. If the world economy does not get better, you will also want to own commodities because the government will want to print money. That is all they know to do, and it is the wrong thing to do
